I’d been having problems with my back (pain and stiffness) for the last several years, and it started getting substantially worse in the last several months. Thought maybe it was RA related. Rheumy didn’t think so. So more testing!
The MRI showed 2 “bad” discs in my lumbar spine (among other associated things too technical to include here). So – now I’m “supposed” to not lift anything over 10 pounds, lose lots of weight (yeah, right!), and stay as “flat” as I can when not doing the prescribed exercises. (BAH!)
Any bets on how well I follow all those instructions? Let’s just go on to a laminectomy and cage fusion without all this “in between” stuff! Better living through Surgery! Right? Guess again. The great “they” say, “not yet.” Harumph!
OK. I’ll not lift anything over 10 pounds (my hands don’t let me lift much more, anyway), and I’ll get “flat” several times a day (or at least recline in my Laz-E-Boy). I’ll do the prescribed exercises if and when I think about them.
As far as losing weight, that will be interesting. I’ll cut back on sweets and fats as much as I can. Have discussed the problem with the Ol’ Curmudgeon (who does most of the cooking), and he’ll cut back the fat “some” and cut down the size of my portions. [sigh!]
There go the nice ice cream sodas he makes for me! And the home-made cookies!
But I insist on my Apple Crisp for dessert on Sunday!!!
Can’t give up everything at once. [Grumble – mumble]
Please keep me in your prayers. For the next 100 pounds…
